Trees can cause damage to buildings and other structures by direct pressure; or indirectly by causing subsidence / heave as a consequence of altering soil volume. Trees are blamed too frequently by building insurers with insufficient evidence gathered and a consequence of this is that trees are often removed unnecessarily which has negative environmental consequences and can exacerbate building damage.

It is essential that damage to buildings is thoroughly investigated before trees are blamed and removed. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, we are able to assist with investigations of suspected tree root damage. We are also able to advise owners of trees whose neighbour's insurance company is demanding their trees be removed.
